The rankings of the 20th most safest and most peaceful places to live in Washington is out. Winlock made it on the list! We who live here know this but to see it out is a great thing for our community. I was reading on Facebook the other day and I saw someone had written about Winlock being on a list, thought maybe it was for the usual "The World's Largest Egg" but it wasn't. This is what was written about our beautiful little town; "Your mind may be scrambled after you see The World's Largest Egg, featured in this secure farmland town with a population of 1,300+!" Congratulation to the City of Winlock for making it on the list. I would give you a number but it did state "in no ranking" order but it was number 6; that had to mean something, right?
This is the time of year where parents are busy taking their kids shopping for the school year but unfortunately not all kids get to have that shopping trip. Please don't forget about the kids who don't have the new clothes for school or the ability to purchase school supplies. We have a lot of kids in our own school district who don't have the means to purchase the items needed for their new school year, please help out if you can.
Winlock Schools are having their "Stuff the Bus" event on August 21 from 1pm - 7pm. Items needed are school supplies such as paper, pens and pencils, binders, erasers, art supplies and anything you would be willing to give. Our kids are in need of many items on a daily basis; please help our school help our kids.

Winlock Egg Day Committee is in need of volunteers, they are holding their next meeting on August 27 at 7pm. If you would like to be a part of one of the oldest traditions and meet new people please come to the meeting at the Community building. I know many people have left and they would really like some people to join in the fun. I know it's a weekend we all enjoy.
The last Saturday of each month the Winlock Community Building has their bingo and we are getting close to it. Don't forget it starts usually at 6:30pm and you can purchase bingo cards for $5 each or 5 cards for $20. There is food to purchase so don't enjoy the food and refreshments while you are there!
They have an Athletic kickoff event for our athletes, coaches, parents and the community on August 27 at WHS/WMS with a free BBQ. They also have a PTSA Sponsored Back to School BBQ, Open House and Silent/Live Auction on August 28 at WMES. Contact the district office for more information.
