I thought it was time for another stroll down memory lane. When I was a youngster living in downtown Winlock, I remember the Shoe Store which was owned by Mr. Legat, he fixed all your shoes and always greeted you with a smile. Then there was The Butcher shop which was owned by Mr. Prigmore and Mr. Inman, this was a truly old fashioned butcher shop and they had the best cuts available. And last but not least was the Safeway Grocery store (which was located where the city hall is now). Winlock was a bustling downtown!!

The 2015-16 school year will be another busy year for the students and staff. Recently WMES received the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Grant. This means that kids get fresh fruits and/or vegetables every school day next year as a snack. They have an Athletic kickoff event for our athletes, coaches, parents and the community on August 27th at WHS/WMS with a free BBQ. They also have a PTSA Sponsored Back to School BBQ, Open House and Silent/Live Auction on August 28th at WMES. Contact the district office for more information.
