To the Editor:
We, the members of the Willapa Valley Education Association, are strongly urging folks to vote "yes" in support of the Willapa Valley Replacement Levy. As the ballot arrives in mailboxes, we hope people will keep in mind the infrastructure, services, and supplies that this levy allows us to use for students' benefit from preschool through 12th grade. Here are some things in our schools that rely on the local replacement levy:
• Funds to help pay for heating, insurance, and maintenance of our beautiful buildings.
•Staffing to allow us to keep class sizes small and to provide support services to all students --including struggling learners and gifted learners.
• Beneficial vocational programs such as agricultural education (including metal shop, horticulture) and CTE business classes (which teach computers, robotics, and coding) and classes like Career Exploration to help students create strong plans for their futures.
• Athletics, clubs, and activities to help educate the "whole student", everything from FFA to football, from Knowledge Bowl to educational field trips.
We truly appreciate our community's strong support and interest in our school and our students. Our students are so successful in our schools and beyond because of the nurturing and support they have received in their years in the Valley.
Please help us to make sure that these wonderful programs continue to benefit all of our students.
Sincerely,
Ann Taylor
