Toledo Freshman Connor Vermilyea pitched two strong innings against Napavine on Monday in a 5-4 victory over the Tigers.

The Toledo/Winlock Warhawk baseball team split four games this week.

On Monday, they defeated Napavine 5-4 in a non-league contest. Joel Martin went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Warhawks. On Tuesday, Mack Gaul struck out 18 batters in a 4-0 shut-out of Stevenson in the first game of a league doubleheader. Enrique Hernandez and Joel Martin went 2 for 5 during the first game. Stevenson returned and pummeled the Warhawks 10-2. On Wednesday, the Warhawks fell victim to Toutle Lake in a 11-5 thumping.

"We are in the process of developing a lot of young talent for replacing kids from last year," said Coach Brian Demerest. "We are hoping that some of our first year varsity seniors and some freshman can replace what we lost last year. We came into this season with an idea of what we would do and who we were. After the first few games and some changing of the lineup, I think we are closer to establishing our identity."

The Warhawks are now 2-2 on the young season and are scheduled for a game at Onalaska Monday, a doubleheader in Ilwaco on Tuesday and a non-league match-up against Mark Morris on Friday.
