“Despite starting each set trailing, we would rally back and finish strong,” Valley head coach Lori Snodgrass told the Herald. “Ocosta was very scrappy on defense throughout the night, making it difficult for our hitters to put the ball away and leading to long rallies.
Lauren Friese led the team with 100 percent serving and great passing from the back row, including 9 digs on the night,” Snodgrass reported. “Makenzie Trotter also had a strong night at the net.
Ocosta won the JV match 16-25, 27-25, 15-13.
The Vikes won another road battle last Thursday at Naselle, 25-22, 25-12, 25-19.
“It was really nice to allow our whole team the opportunity to gain some experience,” Snodgrass said. “I thought that Baylee Layman and Itzia Ruelas had a fine night coming into their first ever varsity game. Karli Friese led our defensive with 8 digs. Brooke Spoor led the team at the net with 7 blocks, and Emily Fluke served for 100 percent. With each game that we play, we are trying to become better communicators on the court and more consistent throughout the entire match as a team.”
