Jessamyn Dahner, a PhD Computer Science student from WSU, came to speak to many of the Willapa Valley junior and senior high students on the value of going into computer science with it having five of the 10 top paying jobs and more openings than jobs. The Office of Superintendent of Public Education of Washington provided Valley a $5,000 grant to help promote the field of Computer Science to its students, especially females for the field currently has less than 25% females and since 1990 they have been decreasing; yet it is expected to have more job openings then any other field in the near future.
