The final home game had finally come for the Winlock Cardinals Girl's soccer team. Facing the Cardinals on their senior night was the Toledo Indians. After recognizing the two senior players from Winlock and Winlock's Cross Country Senior, the Indians and Cardinals faced off for the game of the night.
Starting the game strong, the Toledo Indians immediately jumped into an advantage against Winlock. A few minutes into the game, a great rain storm began. Playing through the harsh weather conditions, the Indians pounded the Cardinals into the side of their goal. As the rain continued on and the half drew to a close, the Indians concluded the half with two points to the Cardinal's zero.
During the half, the teams huddled with their fellow team mates to stay warm. With no hope of the rain stopping, the girls did everything they could do to stay warm. Some girls drew closer to each other while others did various forms of exercise.
After the cold, wet halftime, the Indians and Cardinals returned to the flooded field. The girls stood in their positions shivering as they waited for the whistle to blow. Following the sound of the whistle, the girls scattered across the field as they took their places against their enemies. All throughout the second half, the Indians destroyed the Cardinals with a point followed by another point. This continued until Winlock's player, Maggie Howsden scored Winlock's only goal of the night. Having stopped the Indians for a few minutes, Toledo came back to score another and final point. This concluded the game with the Indian's victory of seven to one.
