On the night of December 9th the Napavine Tigers girls' basketball team traveled to the home of the Toledo Indians. At 7pm the two teams faced each other at the tip off for the start of the game.
The Tigers quickly took control with their aggressive plays and risky shots. As the quarter wore on Napavine continued to run up the score on Toledo. While the Indians struggled to keep up with the Tigers they battled well. The first quarter ended with the Tigers in the lead with 11 to five.
Starting the second quarter the same way the Tigers took control. During this quarter Toledo began to fight their way back into the game as they started to put pressure onto Napavine. With multiple foul shot attempts and risky shots the Indians fought hard. While the Indians battled to stay in the game the Tigers continued with their tough way of playing. After much struggle and multiple three pointers from Napavine the quarter ended in the Tigers favor with 29 to seven.
Following the half time the teams returned to the court to finish the game. Just as before the Tigers gave no break to the Indians. After a few minutes of Napavine scoring Toledo was able to add two points to their score. Once again the Tigers came back to repay the Indians. The third quarter ended with the Tigers in the far lead with 46 to 10.
After the small break between quarters the teams prepared to end the game for good. Unlike the previous quarters the Tigers struggled to take immediate control.
As the game went on with back and forth plays from both teams it took several minutes before either team scored. The Indians began to hold the Tigers in place as they increased their score. Although the Indians had begun to fight back their fight was started to late. The game ended with a victory for Napavine with 53 to 23.
The Indians played several games later in the week. Toledo faced Toutle Lake on Friday and had a loss of 55 to 24. On Saturday they played against Morton -
White Pass and suffered a close loss of 44 to 43. To support the girls at their next game they will be traveling to Onalaska on Wednesday the 16th. The game will start at 7 pm.
