The South Bend First Baptist Church celebrated its 125th Anniversary Sunday, November 15, 2013. A "Through the Years" power point presentation was part of the church service led by Pastor Aaragon Markwell. A delicious Harvest Dinner was held following the service.
The church building at the corner of Adams and Broadway has received a fresh new look. Aging exterior wood siding has been replaced with longer-lasting concrete-based type of siding. During the course of that work, the wood structure covering the no longer functional chimney on the front wall was removed altogether, and a custom-built cross is planned to fill the center space. The church office entrance facing Broadway has been moved to the back side of the building to improve space inside and provide better access from the outside. Over at the parsonage, a 16' by 20' extension has been added to provide an additional bedroom and bath. The most recent part of the project has been to repaint the entire building in two shades of gray with white trim, while the parsonage has been repainted in a coordinated but darker gray with white trim.
Congratulations South Bend First Baptist Church on your 125th Anniversary. All are welcome to visit.
