A Sea Lion had managed to get into downtown Raymond on Thursday, January 14 around 6:20 pm. The Raymond Police Department and the Washington
Department of Fish and Wildlife responded and were able to cage the animal and take it back to it's place of origin.
The beast was thought to have gotten into the general population by way of either behind the Raymond Football Field or somewhere across State Route 6. The Sea Lion ended up back in the brush near Seventh Street and Heath Street, next to the Chevron and Slater's Diner. Officers were able to corral the animal into a kennel, before taking it to the South Bend Boat Launch. The animal had zero injuries. Sea Lions are known to get grounded on shore and eventually get lost, having to go cross country to try to get back to the water. The Department of Fish and Wildlife cites that it happens once or twice a year.
