This is a busy month in Ryderwood. The first of three Coffee Stops is under way this week, with two more to follow the 3rd and 4th weeks of August. This really stretches the availability of volunteers to the limit. What the Coffee Stops all have in common is the need for cookies - homemade ones are always appreciated.
The 31st Annual Mount St. Helens Bluegrass Festival will be this weekend in Toledo. The activities take place at the Toledo High School. Dave Storm still has a few more Senior half-price tickets for Saturday evening's show that starts at 4 p.m. Bring a lawn chair and a jacket and enjoy a great evening with some fantastic talent. The discounted tickets will not be available at the gate.
All this is in addition to the Garage Sales August 28 & 29. For those who are new to the area, these sales are held the last full weekends of April and August. They are very popular, well-advertised and bring lots of visitors to town to cruise the alleys looking for good deals. For those whose homes are too small for all their belongings, now is a good time to plan for a sale or make donations to the Women's Club for their sale. If having a sale, put the address on one of the sign up sheets at the Library, Café, Community Hall or RISA Office as maps will be available for the Sale.
Friday night's dinner at the Café will be Linda & Denny's Spaghetti Dinner. Served at 5 p.m., the all-inclusive meal includes salad, beverage and dessert for $9.
Please call 295-0875 by Wednesday to make reservations. All readers are invited to enjoy these home-cooked meals that are prepared and served by volunteers.
Saturday evening is "Open Mic" at 7 p.m. in the Café. There has been a really good group getting together for this the second Saturday of each month. There are almost always some out-of-towners joining in with our local talent. Most all of them have stage experience of some sort.
Karaoke is on the schedule for Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Café. Most folks come early and enjoy a burger (1/3rd lb. beef, chicken or veggie) and soup (mostly homemade) that is served from 4 to 6 p.m. Again, there is quite a group of regulars that come out to perform.
Tuesday's Senior Nutrition meal on the 11th will be Meatloaf with scalloped potatoes, broccoli salad and melon. The meals are served at noon and a $3 donation is requested. All readers over the age of 60 are welcome to enjoy these meals. Please make or break reservations by 6 p.m. on Monday by calling 295-3813 or 355-7315.
Reminders: Register to vote before October 5th; Mt. St. Helens Bluegrass Festival, August 7-9; Ryderwood Town-Wide Garage Sales, August 28-29; ARTrails, 3rd & 4th weekends of September.
