Ever made a quilt from jeans? Or an apron from a man's shirt? Either would be perfectly appropriate for the sewing competition at the 2016 Pacific County Fair.
"Recycled" or re-purposed items will be featured in the competition which is judged by popular vote. The three entries with the most votes receive prizes donated by the Willapa Harbor Quilters, local businesses or individuals.
The contest, in its fourth year, has featured aprons, totes and placemats or table runners in the past.
Contest planners believe a lot of creativity will be displayed in this year's competition. Someone could make a teddy bear out of a real fur, for instance; or a tote from a coat. Ideas are just an imagination away.
The Pacific County Fair will run from Aug. 24-27. Entries for the sewing building, including the competition, will be accepted on Sunday, Aug. 21, to allow time for judging and displaying items before the fair opens.
