Longtime Castle Rock basketball coach Don Misner announced he would be retiring after a career of successfully coaching both boy’s and girl’s teams.
This past winter, Misner led the vaunted girls team to the WIAA State Championship game. Yakima is not a strange place for Misner as his teams frequently visited the Sundome. Over the last three years his girls teams finished their season there including a 2nd place and semi-final finish.
As the boys coach for 13 years, he took five teams to state that included a fifth place finish in 1986.
Misner expects to continue some involvement in CR basketball in the coming years, but says he defiantly wants a more relaxed, behind-the-scenes role the program.
