Carolyn Marie Smaciarz
Carolyn Marie Smaciarz died Sunday, April 23, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born June 4, 1941 to Edward Langer and Caroline (Muri) Langer at Green Creek, WA.
Carolyn graduated from Willapa Valley High School in 1959. During her school years she was very active in 4-H, band and home economics. On October 28, 1961 she married John Andrew Smaciarz at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (now St. Lawrence) in Raymond, WA.
Their first 2 years of marriage was spent in El Paso, TX where John served in the U.S. Army and where they met life long friends Don and Mollie Wright. After military service they moved back to Raymond for a short time as well as Pilot Rock, OR and then back to Raymond where they remained raising their 3 children.
During these years Carolyn was an avid baker, canner and seamstress. The pantry was always stocked with home canned pickles, fruits and vegetables. She always had a hot meal on the table and a full cookie jar. In her later years she traveled to many locations with the travel club including England, Scotland, Wales, Austria and many locations in the U.S. including New York. Carolyn was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church Altar Society, Red Hats Society, Club 50 and bowling league.
Surviving Carolyn are a brother Jerry Langer of Raymond, her children Jonna (Mike) Hliboki of Hoquiam, Terry (Lana) Smaciarz of Holcomb, and Jeri (Josh) Christen of Raymond. Grandchildren, Michaela Hilboki, Hannah (Chase) Watters, Andrea (Gus) Evers, Abby (Chris) Jansen, Alicia (Chase) McCarthy, Adam Smaciarz, Emily (Liz Cripps) Hosler, Aaron (Dustin Valadez) Hosler, Hailey (Devin) Toepelt, Grady Christen and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John, parents, brother Edward and high school best friend Anne (Zaring) Mueller.
A rosary will be said at 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 27 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church with services at 11:30 a.m. Graveside to follow at Fern Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Willapa Harbor Helping Hands, St. Lawrence Catholic Church or Willapa Valley Alumni Scholarship Fund.
