Kevin Acuff and Jim Beerbower are being made new members of East Grays Harbor Centennial Rotary club. On the 13th Jim Beerbower will have time to tell us about himself and his excellent work record with the company that is now called Vertellus. They had a booth at the Grays Harbor Fair teaching young people how to make plastic. Jim has been with this company when it was Ventron, Morton, Morton-Thiacoll, Dow Chemical and now Vertellus.

Kevin Acuff announced last Thursday the School District is ready to persue the funding and the plans for a new stadium west of the Elementary School, west of Elma. This is high land and suitable for this plan.

The primary vote for Mayor has been counted and it appears that Mayor Osgood will be facing Jim Sorenson for the seat in the November election. It seems a shame to me that only 29% of the registered voters even participated and that this was a high percentage for the county. Being an off election between Presidential votes, all the communities with mayors have an election this November. If we fail to know what is happening and fail to vote, we deserve what we get, actually, we probably deserve worse than we get. The car races are going to be often in the next couple of months and we will hear the sounds even if we don't go to see them. The new Dental Clinic in Elma has the ground almost ready to start pouring the foundation. They plan to be in operation by February. Our Timberland Library is getting ready for another book sale soon. The friends of the Library are very active and do a great job in supporting the staff. They have purchased a new Television and DVD player to keep pace with the electronic advances we see all the time at the library. There are computers for the public and they are in constant use.

Mayor David Osgood would like input of ideas for the Senior Center. You can leave them at City Hall and he will respond to any you have on how to make the center more attractive and used by more people. The board meets at least monthly and will welcome your input.

There are many fawns and other deer running around Elma. Please be on the lookout so we don't hit them with our cars. They are beautiful to watch.
