Ocean Shores Fire Department hoists a 12th man Flag during the Fan Fest held for the kick off of the 2015 professional football season.
The 12s' Fan Fest and Beach Party Weekend has kicked off the professional football season in Ocean Shores. Special guest Mama (Delisa) Lynch was invited to the beach to help the raising of the 12th man flag, and the 12s gathered at the convention center on Friday night in anticipation of watching their favorite team test their metal in a pre-season game. The festival ran from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16 and included activities and events such as a bon fire and karaoke along with kite flying demonstrations and scavenger hunts. There were live performances by groups such as Dr. Harp and the Blues Remedy, the Olympia Music Project and there were DJ's to play music as well such as MC Jams and Mythical.
Though the beloved Hawks did not yield a victory on Friday, the 12th man spirit was still thick in the air in Ocean Shores, and no momentum was lost as the celebration carried on throughout the next day. Special guests such as former coach Dana LeDuc, former player Charlie McShane and other Seahawks alumni were present for the festival. The convention center was sectioned off for a beer garden as well as other 12th man themed vendors, and proceeds from the beer garden went to the local hospital, and the 12s' Alliance and Planning Team also had a donations box out for the victims that have lost their homes in the wildfires currently burning on the East side of Washington. The 12s in town on Saturday rallied again outside of the convention center to show their support for the local Seattle pro football team, Mama Lynch was included in the ceremony and the flag was raised with 12s garbed in blue and green gathered around the flag pole, while they bellowed their favorite Hawks themed chant, "Sea-Hawks". The festivities came to an end on Saturday night as the 12s turned in to go home and wait for the next big game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Friday, August 21.
