12-year-old Winlock resident 4-H student Sable Pirtle took home several awards at the Washington State Fair last month, adding to the more than 100 ribbons she has taken home during the 2013 season. Pirtle (pictured above with one of her prize-winning goats) was declared Champion in categories for Alpine Doe, La Mancha Doe, Pack Goat Wether, Individual Oral Reasons, and Reserve Champion in the Dairy Goat Fit & Show. She said she spends close to six or seven hours each day milking, feeding and caring for her animals and has been noted for being a very self-assured young lady, speaking well to her audience and remaining calm and professional in the ring and on camera.
