The Representatives from Winlock, Becky Lemke, Kristy Iverson, Shannon Criss, Aleta Beegle, and Lisa Collins
This year five representatives from the Winlock School District will be attending the National Title One Conference all the way in Houston Texas. In 2015 Lisa Collins and Kristy Iverson attended and this year they're taking more people with them. Traveling as the representatives are Superintendent Shannon Criss, and teachers Lisa Collins, Kristy Iverson, Aleta Beegle, and Rebecca Lemke.
At the conference there will be various workshops, celebrations for schools and a key speaker to present. This year's speaker is LeVar Burton from Roots and Reading Rainbows. "We're excited to see what's out there!" Iverson stated when describing the events for this year.
While at the conference these women will also be giving a special presentation to the other schools. "We've put together information from the students we've been interviewing." Collins said about the presentation. "We're bringing the voice of our students with us." Criss stated. While doing all of this Lemke stated that this is giving the students a "sense of "I can!" The reason behind this presentation is to show everything that they wanted to learn about the other schools last year; how to get to being a Title One school. "We're going back to educate the other schools. We felt we could discuss the trials of how we became a Middle School Title One School." Beegle replied when asked what the goal of going this year was.
Following the conference this year the presentation they use will be put on the website for the public to view. This presentation was also made by the Middle School's film class. "We're very excited. This is a great opportunity for us to learn." Said Superintendent Shannon Criss.
