A Second Time Around is a new thrift store opening on Market Street in Chehalis, next to Ace Hardware. Its purpose is to help fund all of the Lewis County Senior Centers, as they transition from county-funding to non-profit management.
The Lewis County Seniors transition team heard that Visiting Nurses would be closing their thrift store but they had not given up their lease. In the meantime, the transition team had purchased display fixtures from the going-out-of-business sale at Macys. "We were able to get these fixtures at a great price," stated Jan Kramer, President of the Olequa Senior Center Board. "We had to store the fixtures in an empty building owned by Titus Will until we could negotiate a lease. Then, in early December, our board Treasurer found out the lease by visiting nurses had been given up and we jumped at the opportunity," continued Kramer.
A Second Time Around will have a lot of thrift store items but they will also have an upscale boutique for those higher end items. They will offer furniture, antiques, books, glassware, clothing, home decor items, and other household goods.
If you would like to donate to the thrift store, they will accept donations at A Second Time Around from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Please make sure all clothing and other items are cleaned. Your donations can also be dropped off at your local Senior Center in Toledo or Winlock. Donation at the Senior Centers will be picked up twice a week.
Volunteers are needed, so if you have some time to help please stop by. You will be happy you did.
