Last week a large barge with a crane moved down the Willapa River. The Port is leasing the South Fork pier to the Manson Construction Company. They have been awarded a $19 million contract by the US Army Corps of Engineers to repair the sand berm protecting the Shoalwater Bay Tribal properties in Tokeland. The project will begin this month and probably extend in to September. They will be using the pier to stage equipment for the project.
