Toledo 39 Seton Catholic 22

Toledo fell behind quickly but came back to defeat the Cougars in a 1A Trico League battle in Vancouver.

Taylor Hicks ran for two touchdowns and caught two more in the victory which puts the Indians all alone in third place in the Trico League. Hicks rushed for 157 yards and caught four passes for 98 yards. Toledo's fifth score came on a 70-yard kickoff return by Dakota Robins.

Toledo Quarterback Gage McDill threw for two TDs and 158 yards to give Toledo a diverse offensive look.

Toledo now 3-2 and 3-1 in league, dips into a severe part of their schedule with a trip to meet undefeated and highly ranked Woodland on Friday.

Hoquiam 35 Castle Rock 7

The Rockets made it a good game for a half, but Hoquiam made some adjustments and exploded in a non-league victory.

In the stat book, CR won with 181 total yards to the Grizzlies 174, but Hoquiam took advantage of two turnovers and used the short field to gain easy access to the end zone.

Castle Rock's single touchdown came on a 31 yard connection between Mason Klingberg to Zac Akesson. Akesson caught four passes for 72 yards of offense.

The Rockets are now 2-2 in the Trico League and 2-3 overall and will travel to Kalama on Friday.

Toutle Lake 44 Winlock 0

It was a tale of two halves in the latest 2B Central defeat for Winlock.

The first was of Duck domination, recovered fumbles and two onsite kicks that led to 44 straight points. The second half saw the Cardinals dominate. The Cards slowly drove the length of the field, but came up short on the first and then fumbled inside the 10-yard line as the clock ran out. In the meantime, the Cardinal defense held TL to just five offensive plays in the second half.

Evan Mitchell, usually the quarterback saw full time duty in the backfield leaving the signal calling duties to Freshman Zack Weinert. The move paid off, as Weinert went three for three in passing for 21 yards; All of them to Mitchell. For his part, Mitchell carried the ball 12 times for 60 yards.

Winlock is now 0-4 in the Central League and 0-5 for the season. They will host Adna this week.

Cross Country

Toledo/Winlock Cross Country Wins Again

The Toledo/Winlock Boys Cross Country remained undefeated as they bested White Salmon, Seton Catholic and Ilwaco in a meet held in Vancouver.

Ashton Fraser was the first runner for TW in second overall place among 51 varsity-level runners. He finished with a time of 17:56 over a 5,000-meter course. He was followed by Forest Wallace in 3rd and Jackson Kuzminsky finished 9th. Jerry Murphy and Isaiah Johnson finished 11th and 13th respectively to round out the T/W scoring.

Sally Martin finished 5th or 33 girls for the Toledo/Winlock girls who are still running as an incomplete (less than five scoring members) team.
