Local business owner and hair stylist Katrina Ege.
There's a new hair salon in town, in the Maneman Electric building at the location of Dalores Sowa's old salon. The new business in town is called All Tangled Up Salon and Tanning, owned and run by local hair stylist Katrina Ege. Ege started in Raymond, interning at Lisa Renee's hair salon after receiving training at Paul Mitchell The School in Portland and at the Grays Harbor Beauty College in Aberdeen. "I was interning there during school (at the Grays Harbor Beauty College) and we always said I would do that for a year and then venture off and do my own thing," Ege explained. After going to Paul Mitchell The School in Portland, Ege moved home for a while, and worked on a dairy farm before going to the Grays Harbor Beauty College to complete her credentials as a hair stylist. After she had her credentials, Ege continued to intern at Lisa Renee's twice a week. "I was here, interning at Lisa's a couple days a week and we'd heard that some places were open and I never thought I'd be able to have this spot," said Ege, "There isn't much of an availability on good places in Raymond, and we talked and decided that I needed to jump on the building because there wouldn't be anything else anytime soon."
Ege envisions the next step being to hire another stylist, "Eventually I would like to have a couple people working under me or maybe another hair stylist or a nail technician." Ege says that eventually the salon will have receptionists in charge of the clerical duties as well as the tanning section, but for the time being will be focusing on starting and sustaining her new business.
