Nolan Patching
From the moment I was born, I believe my parents have been setting me up for greatness, even in my name, Nolan Ryan Patching, my parents believed I would be great like the baseball legend whom I was named after. I was born in Santa Izabel, Brazil, on August 30, 1998 and became the oldest of six kids in my family. Currently, I am a senior at Winlock high school and the ASB President of the school. During my years at the school I have always strived to be as involved as I can. I have been on the varsity football, basketball, and Toledo-Winlock United soccer team. Last soccer season I was named all-league goalkeeper for the Trico league and was on The Chronicle's all-area team. I belonged to the FFA last year, I am on the school's knowledge bowl team, science team, and have been on the math team for the first three years of high school. Outside of school, I am involved in the LDS church and their youth group, I have been a part of several community service activities like the Walk 'n' Knock, community cleanup day, and National Day of Service. I have helped the school grow and strengthen and brought back an old tradition of the Homecoming Bonfire which was a huge success. After I graduate from high school, I plan on going to Centralia College and furthering my education. I have been interested in majoring to become a sports journalist and this job is going to help me gain the experience I need in the future. Sports is a way of life for me and writing about it and watching sports as a career sounds like a dream job to me. After gaining my A.A. from Centralia College, I plan to transfer to Eastern Washington University to complete my education and begin my career as a sports journalist. I have a strong want to cover the community, its strengths, and the great beauty this area truly has. I am the Town Crier's first student reporter and I was honored with being chosen for this responsibility, but I am more than ready for this job.
