The Cowlitz Prairie Grange will be hosting the 49th Annual Threshing & Gas Show this Saturday and Sunday on Buckley Road, just off Jackson Hwy.
Many special events have been planned, including an antique car show, dozens of craft vendors, and more than 150 entries competing in a tractor pull. But the highlight of the weekend is the real, live threshing, which takes place every hour, on the hour.
For those not in-the-know, Threshing is the process of separating kernels of wheat, or other grain, from the stalk and husk, called chaff. This can be accomplished by mechanical means by the ancient technique of beating the crop on a threshing floor, designed to collect the finished grain.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, and corn on the cob will be available all weekend among the 110 vendors, who will also deal in antiques and crafts. Special dinners and breakfasts have been scheduled, as well.
Around 8,000 people are expected to show up, so be sure to prepare for a day full of fun and excitement. For more information, contact Louis Rohrig at (360) 864-2744.
