Happy Halloween! Yes, yes, I know that’s not a particularly original greeting, but I’m just so excited about this year’s festivities. I’ve even made and/or gathered my nieces’ and nephews’ costumes this year. I decided on a Mother Goose theme: Robin Hood (there is a Mother Goose rhyme about him, which is why my 11-year-old nephew agreed to this theme), Jack, Jill, and Little Miss Muffet. They’re adorable.
Don’t forget to hit the stores downtown, including the museum, for the trick or treating this year. Even the Winlock PTSA will be joining the fun from 3 to 5 p.m. downtown.
Evaline Elementary is now taking in orders for their annual Associated Student Body fundraiser. Anyone on the lookout for this year’s winter wreaths, centerpieces, and garlands—all of which are made up by Country Garlands, please call the school at (360) 785-3460. Families of the students are especially encouraged to purchase the freshly made garlands. The finished products will be delivered to the school on Nov. 25.
Oh, and Evaline’s school is also on the lookout for 2nd and 3rd grade chapter books. Anyone wishing to donate a few kid’s books could definitely find a good home for them at the school.
The Winlock Seventh-Day Adventist Church will be hosting a showing of “Hell and Mr. Fudge”, a film based on the real-life experiences of the preacher Edward Fudge starring Mackenzie Astin and Keri Lynn Pratt. The movie is all set to begin on Halloween night (this coming Thursday) at 7 p.m. in the Olequa Senior Center. The cost is $3 per person or $7.50 per family. After the movie, there will be a question and answer period for those who wish to stay, as well as some refreshments. For more information, please call (360) 785-4914. All are welcome.
The Winlock Timberland Library is hosting Adult Book Discussion on Friday at 12:30 p.m. This month’s title is “Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking” by Susan Cain.
