Whew, we made it through another holiday season, no snow at Christmas as we all had hoped for, not even a dusting. More importantly, I enjoyed Christmas with Tommy, my folks Al and Diana and my precious niece Kennedi!
I spoke with Viola Chickese and the task of cleaning up Winlock is well on its way. Their Jan. 28 meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship of Winlock Church, (630 Cemetery Rd.). Their first cleanup project will take place on Feb. 8 at 10 a.m., more information to follow but please mark your calendars. Feel free to confirm with Viola at (360) 785-0178.
Winlock Regional Timberland Library presents “Page Turners Book Discussion” on Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., for Adults only. This Month’s title is “Why be Happy When You Could be Normal?” Sounds like a topic for all of us to enjoy!
What a great way to start the “get to know ya” series than to write a paragraph about the new Mayor of Winlock. Lonnie Dowell, sworn in Dec. 23, was kind enough to be my first subject. (Guinea pig) – Here goes…
TC: Lonnie, what is your idea of perfect happiness?
Lonnie: Being with family and friends
TC: What is your greatest fear?
Lonnie: That I will outlive my children
TC: Where were you born?
Lonnie: In Longview, but raised on Ferrier Rd., in Winlock.
TC: What is one thing the people in Winlock may not know about you?
Lonnie: That I have a PomChi dog and her name is Prancer. She is litter box trained when she does not go outside.
Thank you Lonnie, I was impressed that you have litter box trained your pet, maybe you could teach a few of us how it is done!!
Also, I asked Lonnie if there was anything else he would like to include and he said “Today is my Dad’s 78th Birthday.” Happy Birthday, Lonnie Sr., and we wish you many more to come!!
Finally, just a short note about Elvis and Christmas. I think he gets excited for it; he lays on the living room floor just waiting for all the paper. One small problem, another 4 legged animal walked in the room. He slapped her nicely and that was her instruction to leave, and leave she did! He then went to the middle of the wrapped paper, laid in it and considered it his new throne! King Cat Elvis.
