It’s that time of year again. Yup, the new school year is all set to start next month! As an aunt, I am very much looking forward to this event. A few local sports teams are just as eager to get everything organized. So…
Youth Football is currently signing up kids from 3rd through 6th grade. Since the season officially starts on Sept 7, and they’re hoping to have 10 practices in by then, you cannot sign up too quickly. The cost is $50 per child. Contact Mike Landry at (360) 785-4143 for details.
The Winlock Soccer Club is now looking for a coach for the Under 12 team. Practice will start as soon as they’ve located one. During the season (which also starts in September), the team will have games every Saturday with occasional Sunday games. Several positions are still open for the Under 12 players. For more information, please contact (360) 785-0201.
The Winlock Timberland Library will be hosting Dig Into Science on Wednesday, Aug. 21. Children are invited to drop in any time during normal hours to delve into their curious natures with a science activity. This is a Summer Reading event. If you have any questions about this or future activities, please contact the library at (360) 785-3461.
As many of you know, the 11th annual ARTrails of SouthWest Washington will be arriving shortly on Sept. 21 and 22, as well as Sept. 28 and 29. In honor of this event, I’d like to give a brief profile in each column of some of the local artists participating.
Marlene J. Hodge has been a photographer for more than 40 years and a metal smith for eight. In addition to being intrigued by patterns and texture in just about anything, her perfectionism compels her to develop her black and white photographs in a traditional wet darkroom. Her work will be showing at 1183 S. Military Rd., west of Winlock.
