Winlock was rocked by a horrific tragedy this week. A woman and two children perished in a house fire that leveled the family home. Winlock has once again shown its true colors by supporting the family. There is a fund set up at Umpqua Bank that will assist the family as they deal with this loss. If you would like to donate, please drop by the bank. I also understand that the manager at Aaron's in Chehalis is a Winlock resident and is also taking clothing donations. Please help this family as they take on the task of rebuilding their lives. We would like to offer our condolences to the family as they go through this difficult time. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
Winlock Seventh Day Adventist church has called to let me know they too have a quilting class. There is no cost for the materials; you can pick out whatever you would like by calling (360) 785-3917 at least 24 hours before the classes on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. They also have a potluck during the class, what a great way to spend time with others by sewing and eating.
Winlock Timberland Regional Library is having a few events this week with Page Turners Book Discussion, 12:30-1:30 p.m., on Friday for adults. Join others for a discussion of this month's title "The Round House" by Louise Erdrich. For more information call 360-785-3461.
Then, on Saturday, the library presents Rainbow Extravaganza, 2-3:30 p.m., for all ages. Listen to rainbow stories and make beautiful rainbow crafts. This event is part of the Family Read & Sing Aloud, a Timberland Regional Library district wide program. For more information call 360-785-3461.
Don't forget, if you would like to be involved in the Winlock Egg Day Committee, they will hold another meeting on March 19 at 7pm. Please join the fun and help keep Egg Day going for many years to come. It's a great weekend if you have never attended, it's a time to meet people who have moved to Winlock or catch up with those you haven't seen. If you will be having an event during Egg Day weekend, please let me know and I will definitely include your adventure in my column.
