Can you believe that we are already in to 2014? It’s hard to believe that 2013 is over; it went by oh so fast. What will the New Year have in store for you?
As we start the New Year, the Senior Center is planning activities for 2014. I spoke with JoAnn Porter, President of the Board and she said they are looking for volunteer’s to help set up events, please contact JoAnn at (360) 785-0304 if you are interested. The Senior Center is looking for a “Bingo Caller” for the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. If interested, please contact Liz at (360) 785-4325.
To continue with the series “get to know ya”, I was lucky enough to get a couple of minutes with Raleigh Stone at IGA Cedar Village. Here goes:
TC: What is your idea of perfect happiness?
RS: Being on the river with my buddies and catching a lot of fish
TC: What is your greatest fear?
RS: That the freezer will go out in the Ice Cream section (Lord, help us all if that happens permanently.)
TC: Where were you born?
RS: Longview, I now reside in Toledo
TC: What is the one thing the people in Winlock may not know about you?
RS: That I have been in the grocery business for 44 years, 33 years in Winlock.
Thank you Raleigh, you are always there to answer any questions and to help people in the community, Winlock is blessed to have you as a business man!
I also heard that Margaret Snyder is in Sharon Care and would enjoy having visitors. They hope she will be able to come home in a week or so. Cindi Hepner’s Mother is quite ill, and Brett Wattins is having surgery Jan. 21 at Providence Centralia Hospital. Our prayers go out to Margaret, Cindi and Brett.
I haven’t mentioned our outdoor cat, Rufus. I was in the kitchen doing dishes and noticed the rocking chair on the deck constantly move. I realized my husband has made a tent for our watch cat. He sits in his chair and chases every animal that comes near the house, small dogs, large dogs, cats everything but mice...I am having a lot of trouble with the male cats in my life, they only want to watch the chicks catch mice!
