The Toledo Community Library is working with the Toledo Historical Society to create a "History Room" which will house microfiche newspaper articles and two display cases. About 70 people were in attendance on Oct. 21; as Sally and Chuck Caley presented highlights from their three month hike of the Crest Trail. Pam McEachern is going to a Genealogy presentation on Nov. 18, and Story Time continues every other Wednesday.
The Toledo Elementary School Garden science program is off to a good start with several parent volunteers and sessions regarding watershed protection, composting and vermicomposting headed by Bob Taylor. November sessions involve reduce, reuse and recycle and outside bulb planting is planned.
The Toledo Lions Club is sponsoring this year's Lewis County Veterans Parade on Saturday November 8th. The parade begins at 11 a.m. Anyone wishing to get involved can do so by contacting April Pennington-Farey at aprilfarey1@gmail.com. Bob Schmid has 28 new bricks to be added to the Veterans Wall of Honor prior to the parade. Vision:Toledo will give the Boys Scouts 250 American flags to hand out to the crowd during the parade.
vision TOLEDO's Arts, Recreation and Events task force discussed: 1) ideas to have event banners displayed in town from November to May at the various existing banner locations to let visitors know what happens in Toledo throughout the year, 2) the purchase of a big event tent from auction, and 3) the idea to encourage community members to put up lights during the holidays and by perhaps having a holiday lighting contest. Everyone is encouraged to attend the monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Morgan Arts Centre on the last Tuesday of each month.
