On Saturday, August 6 the Washington State Patrol deployed spike strips on U.S. Highway 12 between the off ramps in Montesano. The strips were deployed to stop a man that was attempting to elude police. The Washington State Patrol reports that two other vehicles were snared in the trap, but the intended 1999 Honda Civic was also stopped, and eventually the tires were deflated around milepost 10. The occupants of the Honda Civic were sent into the concrete bridge of Devonshire Road as their tires deflated, before they fled the scene. They were later apprehended. The incident blocked the road for up to three hours on Saturday night. The driver of the Honda Civic, a 21-year-old Tukwila man and his teenage passenger were both transported to the Community Hospital in Aberdeen with undisclosed injuries. The driver will face Felony Eluding as well as Possession of Stolen Property Charges.
