On Tuesday, January 13 the lady Vikings went up against the South Bend Lady Indians, where they had some difficulty curbing the game into their favor for almost the entire game. Though the Vikings beat the Indians 41 to 29, the Indians' desire to win was just as intense as the Vikings'.
In the first quarter, the two teams were neck and neck until the Indians were able to pull ahead by four points, leaving the first quarter with a score of 7 to 11.
Valley responded well to the pressure that South Bend put on them with the four-point lead, scoring five times what the Indians were able to in the second quarter. By halftime the score was 22 to 14 in the Vikings' favor. At an eight-point lead the Valley girls still stayed matched with the Indians, who scored 11 points on them in the third quarter. Although Valley was scored on in the third quarter, they were still able to take some points of their own; the overall score going into the fourth quarter was 31 to 25.
The fate of this game was decided in the fourth quarter, where Valley was lucky to have had some spurt of scoring throughout, while South Bend was not so lucky. Valley was able to put up 10 points in the fourth quarter, while South Bend was held down to just fou
