After the Vikings were able to gain a lead on the Crusaders in the first quarter, they pretty much held true to their lead for the entire game. The Vikings were deadly with their shot accuracy that night.
"We shot the ball particularly well from the floor tonight with 54 percent. We were 17 of 30 from 2-point attempts, 8 for 16 from 3-point land and 7 for 14 from the free throw line. It was one of those great nights to be a basketball coach because with players shooting like it really didn't matter what I did or sets called, they (the players) made it work," said Valley head coach Jay Pearson.
By halftime the score came to 43 to 30 in the Vikings favor. The Vikings guarded their own basket fervently in the third quarter as they also attacked the Crusaders' basket. Only allowing the Crusaders four points total in the third quarter, the Vikings took their 15 points to add to their score.
Going into the fourth quarter the score was 58 to 34. The Vikings let a few more points slip past them, while grabbing some more of their own. Ultimately the fourth quarter yielded 11 more points to the Vikings score, bringing their final score to 69, and 18 more points to the Crusader's score, bringing it to 52.
Coach Pearson listed Kyler Oblad as one of the top contributors of this game. "Kyler had his best game of his carrier since I have been watching him play with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assist and 2 blocks. As our floor leader, Kyler also saw the floor really well to night by recognizing Tacoma's several different defensive schemes and setting us in our proper offensive sets to counter," said Pearson.
Other contributors were Brendyn Graves with 4 points and 9 rebounds and Chase Flemetis with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
The Vikings walked off the court with a win of 69 to 52.
