Toledo’s Blake Wood has been awarded a $1,000 college scholarship from the Lewis County Farm Bureau for the second year in a row, having been an exception last year prompting the bureau to award three scholarships instead of just two. Currently attending Centralia College, Wood’s essay from last year, while he was a senior at Toledo High School, was seen by the bureau as above and beyond, and they sought special permission to include him among the scholarship recipients. This year, Wood was awarded along with JT Taub, a senior at Napavine High School, and both of them say they plan to attend Washington State University next year, with Wood studying physical therapy and Taub studying business management. The Bureau reportedly received 14 applications this year from students all over the county, and regularly give out at least two scholarships each year.
