For the first Council Meeting of the New Year the Toledo City Council came together in the Toledo City Hall on January 5th. With the New Year the Council held new members. Of these members are Mayor Steve Dobosh, Councilman Jim Fluckinger, Councilwoman Carol Hill, Councilwoman Glenda Forga, and Councilman Guy Spratt.
Following the approval of Agenda and Roll Call Mayor Steve Dobosh turned the Council's attention to the Department Reports. Under these reports Public Works Craig McCown came forward to give his report. In this report he told the Council there were "no major problems." He also notified the Council that the Public Works was going to start taking down the Christmas Decorations. As he prepared to end his report he told the Council the "plant is running like a champ." With this final comment McCown sat back down and the Council called forth Police Chief John Brockmueller.
In Brockmueller's report he told the Council that things were running "pretty smoothly" with only "13 calls of service in the past two weeks." With no comments or questions for Brockmueller he told the Council Members that he and his men were "just doing our thing."
Next in the Department Reports was City Clerk Michelle Whitten. In her report she reminded the audience of the vacant council position and that it would be filled by the next meeting. Also in her report she told the Council that there was a position on the Park Board open.
While on the topic of the Park Board she notified the Council that Councilman Fluckinger would stay on as the Park Board Representative.
Before the Council moved into New Business Mayor Dobosh did the drawing for a new TV from the Canned Food Drive. After the explaining of the food drive Mayor Dobosh had Councilwoman Forga draw the name of the winner of this prize.
With no further Reports under Department Reports and no Public Comment the Council moved into the time of New Business. This first item of the small agenda was the matter of the "Amusement Device Permit - Toledo Market Fresh." Councilman Spratt made the motion to approve and Councilman Fluckinger seconded. With no opposition to this motion, the motion carried unanimously.
The second item on the agenda was the topic of "Water Leak Reduction - Stafford Bancroft." At this time it was explained there had been a leak that had been fixed and repaid. Before the motion was approved Councilwoman Forga asked about the letter and the lack of request for this request. After a few minutes of discussion the Council agreed to have people in the future be specific about their requests so that it will be clear on the records. Following this discussion the motion passed with no opposition.
For the third and final item on the Agenda the Council moved into the topic of selecting a Mayor Pro-Tem. During this topic Councilman Spratt and Councilwoman Forga were nominated. When the vote came to a tie, Mayor Dobosh wrote the names on pieces of paper and placed them in his hat to draw. Mayor Dobosh had Councilwoman Hill drew the name of Councilman Spratt.
After the conclusion of New Business, Councilman Fluckinger brought up that the Park Board would not be having as many meetings this year. After this update, Councilman Spratt made the motion to adjourn.
