ARTIC - After closing in late 2014 the Artic Tavern will be opening their doors once again.
Lisa Loveday will be re-branding the location as the Artic Pub and looks to be opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony before the end of the month.
"I have always loved this area and always loved this bar for many, many years - and after the closing last year, I thought and thought about it. I finally convinced myself that I think I can do it," said Loveday.
She is bringing her knowledge of business and people into the Artic Pub and had reached out to others before she made the final commitment. The decision was that she could make this work.
"I will be running a lunch and dinner menu along with a Happy Hour. And as soon as I get the grill area finished out back I will be holding the steak nights again."
Loveday is looking to move the roof over the back porch seating to align with the door that leads outside; that is also where the grill area will be and provide a better sitting area out back for people to enjoy the cool summer afternoons and evenings.
She is looking at opening daily, operating seven days a week, starting at about 11 am for lunch until 2 pm, Happy Hour from 2 pm - 4 pm, and then dinner until 7 pm.
"I will close no sooner than 10 pm."
With the RV Park right next door, she has to be mindful of the overnight campers, but is looking to have live music and has already spoke to people like Stone Soup and DJ Spody who have plans to rock the house after she opens.
Offering soup and salads with an expanded sandwich menu, Loveday will have snacks during Happy Hour and is working on a full dinner menu as well.
"I have just a few more things left to do with the health department, but after that the beer should start flowing."
The interior of the Pub has been reconditioned as well with new paint, and brightened wood panels. Loveday has also refinished the bathrooms and will be re-felting the pool table in hopes that she can attract a few pool leagues from both Grays Harbor County and Pacific County.
"I would like to have the seniors playing here and will be looking into the Pacific and Grays Harbor Country pool leagues as well. We will be holding tournaments."
The Artic is also looking at outdoor events with the biker groups that run down the 101 and looks to eventually be part of a larger Bikers Week during the summer runs.
"With the ice machine up and running we can also offer bags of ice for hunters and travelers who are on their why out to their favorite spot. They can drop by and top off their coolers."
With everything that Loveday is looking to do, she will also possibly offer pony kegs and growlers with an expanded line of craft beers.
"I want to have a full line of craft beers from both Washington and Oregon brewers."
The antlers have been re-hung, and there is a special section of Artic history that will be highlighted on one wall.
"If anyone has a piece of Artic history I would be very interested in seeing what they have," said Loveday.
Another feature to the Artic Pub will be gambling with pull-tabs and merchandize boards already being set up. And, be on the lookout for those big weekends like the Fourth of July for plenty of activity at the Artic Pub, with possible wine tasting and Tap Takeovers from local brewers and wineries.
It's time to return to the Artic this summer and bring your friends for a delicious bite and a cool drink.
"People seem to miss the Artic being open, and that is another reason that I decided to open the Pub."
