Tales from the Lions Den

We just finished one of our major projects, The 7^th Annual Rain Derby. All entries had to be in by October 31^st. Then we take a rainfall reading on New Year’s Eve to determine the winner.

In the meantime, we are always looking for new projects to serve the community.  Lions are always looking for new ways to serve. Lions are known for asking for money. For calendars in the summer, Rain Derby Tickets in the fall, and White Cane Donations in the spring. This is how we get our money to give back to the community. We do projects asking for money, but we also do projects in some sort of service to a group or organization in the community. This is like the opening of fishing season when we stock Case’s Pond with trout for the kids to catch.

The whole point of this article is to ask for your help in coming up with a project that is worthwhile, but needs a group such as the Lions to get the job done. The only reason the Lions are in business is to serve the community. If you have a project that needs done, contact any Lion for information.

One of our major projects is the Community Birthday Calendar. This was the 47^th year for the project and the first time in over 20 years that Keith McDonald has not chaired the project. As our membership gets older and we lose a few extra active members, we may not have contacted everybody to purchase calendars as in the past. We still have some calendars left.
