Six Raymond High School students competed at the Washington State High School Math Competition conducted at Central Washington University in Ellensburg over the weekend. All six of the Raymond Mathletics team placed in the competition. The Raymond team was under the guidance of RHS math teacher Coach Thinh Gunnarson.

Three RHS mathletes finished in fourth place at the state competition.

"Tre Seydel, Jolie Dunn and Taren Stephens competed in the Team Topical Problems round and finished fourth in state," Gunnarson said.

"Tre and Morgan went on to compete in the Knowdown competition," Gunnarson said. "Tre faced a difficult geometry question in the first round, and was eliminated. Morgan answered his first round question correctly to advance, but was eliminated in the second round."

Three RHS mathletes accomplished a fifth-place finish.

"On Saturday, Adrian Quintana Silva, Morgan Anderson and Christopher Quintana Silva competed in the very challenging team problem and finished fifth in state," Gunnarson told the Herald.

Coach Gunnarson said that she "is proud of all the students and would like to thank Raymond Schools Foundation for their generous support in making the competition possible for these students. Go Seagulls!"
