Saturday, November 5, 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. - Walk n Knock is now Drive n Drop

With COVID this year, the Walk n Knock is taking on a different look than years before.

Toledo Food Bank

As many of you know, Walk n Knock is held on the first Saturday of December every year to bring in food and money for people right here in our community. Due to current circumstances, we will not be doing the traditional door to door food pickup.

The Toledo Food Bank is asking that people help with a monetary donation if possible. The Food Bank can actually buy more with a dollar than you can. They have access to bulk pricing and can buy specifically what is needed for our community.

If you would like to donate food, there will be a box truck at the food bank on the day of Walk n Knock and possibly at one or two additional locations which is to be determined. If you are able to help by donating, it is appreciated.

You can take money directly to Timberland Bank here in town, or mail a check to Toledo Food Bank, PO Box 354, Toledo, WA 98591. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, and THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Winlock-Vader Food Bank

The 2020 Walk n Knock event has been modified to fit COVID-19 restrictions and has been renamed this year. It's now the Drive n Drop. In Winlock, bags can be dropped off at the corner of Front and Fir and at the Vader Assembly of God Church. Workers will be there from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5.

Empty paper bags can be picked up at the Food Bank, Winlock IGA, and the Little Crane Cafe in Vader, but you can use any bag you have. Monetary donations are also accepted. Envelopes are available at Timberland Bank, Sahara Pizza, Winlock IGA, the Club, and Little Crane Cafe.

If you prefer to make a monetary donation, there will be envelopes available at Timberland Bank, The Food Bank, Cedar Village IGA, The Club, and The Little Crane Cafe in Vader, Please feel free to drop off your monetary donation at the Winlock-Vader Food Bank or mail it in. They can not accept food donations that are more than two years old.

During the Drive n Drop you will not need to leave your car. Volunteers will come to your car and pick up your bags. Please stay in your vehicle.

The food banks in our area have been feeding many families during COVID. Many have been given extra resources, but it's not enough. The layoff and shutdowns caused by COVID have affected many families, every canned food item helps. They are in need of personal care products and meal makers. Meal makers make it easy to make meals for the family, such as Hamburger Helper, Stovetop Stuffing, etc.
