Well, folks, if you haven't gotten your Christmas decorating and shopping done by the time you read this, you may have to wait for next year. But let us not think that the reason for the season is presents, food and decorations. It's about spreading love and good cheer to all. Smile, smile, smile.
The Candlelight service at Ryderwood's historic Community Church will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Christmas Eve. All are invited to what will be a beautiful service in a beautiful setting. Refreshments will be served after the service.
Thursday, Christmas Day, is the community Holiday Potluck in Community Hall at 1 p.m. Contact Sharon at (360) 353-8745 for last minute sign-ups. The Social Club provides meats, potatoes and beverages. Diners supply the salads, side dishes and desserts. The variety is like nothing that can be had at the finest high dollar buffets. Bring your own table service for a "finer dining experience".
There will be no dinner at the Café on Friday night, the day after Christmas, and things will be quiet until Monday: Burgers at the Café followed by Karaoke. Tuesday's Sr. Nutrition will be Sloppy Joes, French fries and pineapple coleslaw. Call me at (360) 295-3813 by Monday at 6 p.m. to make or break reservations.
Welcome in the New Year with a Game Night in Community Hall on New Year's Eve. The time is 6 p.m. The Social Club will provide beverages, so bring "finger foods" to share. It should be a fun evening with everything from Five Crown, Cribbage, Pinochle, Backgammon or whatever folks want to play.
Wet, it's been very wet. If I read the email from my Ryderwood weatherman right, something like 2.5 inches of rain in a 24-hour period this past week. That was one pineapple express for sure!
Until next week, when the days will start getting longer again...
