Happy New Year one and all. A new year offers lots of opportunities for making things better and happier for all. Make sure and be careful if you’re out driving either on the Eve or the Day as there are frequently folks out on the roads that shouldn’t be.
A new month means another scrumptious Town Breakfast put on by the fine guys at Ryderwood’s VFW Post 7010. They do so much for our little Town - everywhere you look there’s something they’ve either done or contributed to getting done. Things like the Town Christmas Party and Cheer Bag Projects couldn’t happen without generous contributions from them and other groups in Town.
As of this writing, I don’t know what the menus are for Tuesday’s Senior Nutrition Lunch or Friday’s Cafe meal. Since I don’t cook unless absolutely necessary, I’m sure I’ll be there.
Wintertime means finding things to do indoors and games are a good way to go. There’s a group that plays Pinochle at the cafe on Tuesday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. and all are invited to join in. If you’re new to the game or haven’t played in awhile, they’ll be happy to assist.
Starting Wednesday, Jan. 8, a group will play Backgammon at the Cafe from 2 - 4 p.m. Backgammon is one of the oldest board games for two people, at least 5,000 years old. All are invited to join in or come by to observe and/or learn how to play.
Next week will be the big one for the ladies in Town as the Women’s Club has their salad luncheon at noon on Wednesday and the Red Hat Ladies meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Both gatherings take place at Pioneer Hall.
Wishing all a fine 2014 and we’ll be back here next week.
