One of the things I’ve heard about weather in the Pacific North West is: "Whenever summer begins, it will last three months." So-o-o- by my reckoning, our dry and hot weather began in early June this year and now it’s early September. I bet they can’t prove that on "Mythbusters"!
Most notably, there has been a measurable amount of rainfall recently, which has the yards expressing their gratitude with some brighter green grass. The rain has also increased our humidity, which is a bit of a change. Meanwhile, I heard some geese calling one night (are they getting ready to move on?) and have seen the first nuthatches and chickadees of the fall season.
As we start off a new month, the Town Breakfast will take place this coming Saturday, September 7th. That’s in Community Hall from 8-10 a.m. Come on out to the end of SR 506 for the best in pancakes, ham, eggs how you like them, biscuits & gravy – orange juice and bottomless coffee are always included.
The Women’s Club Meeting will be on Wednesday the 11th at noon in Pioneer Hall. The election of officers will take place at this time, and all members are encouraged to attend. On the next day, Thursday, Sept.12, the Red Hat Ladies will meet in Pioneer Hall at 2 p.m. Among other things, they will make plans for an Outing on Sept. 26.
This is one last reminder to Ryderwood residents to get your tickets for the "Wrinkles Of Washington" concert on Sunday, Sept.15. This will be a very special event so plan to catch it.
Speaking of special events, the 9th Annual Fall Arts & Crafts Fair is just around the corner on Oct. 25 & 26. Contact Marty at (360) 295-0095 for information or registration forms.
