I expect that there will be large crowds in town for the August Garage Sales this weekend. Look for sale maps on the Café porch. From what I'm hearing, there will be quite a few home sales, some of which will be quite large. There will, of course, be the Women's Club Sales at Pioneer Hall and something new is an Indoor Flea Market in the Community Hall Auditorium.
On Wednesday, there will be a car wash at the Park from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Donations will go toward having the interior of the Café painted professionally. My car will be there for sure - last week's rain turned the dust into dirty spots.
I believe that there will be an Old-Timer's Picnic at the Park on Sunday. In times past, some come on Saturday and stay the night. It's a fun place to drop by and hear old tales and old music.
Coming up over the weekend will be Open Mic on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the Café and Karaoke at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, also at the Café. (While not technically the weekend, it's close enough.) Come early on Monday (after 4 p.m.) for the delicious burgers (beef, chicken or veggie) and "mostly from scratch" soups.
Get your reservations early for Friday night's Hawaiian night with Kahlua Pork and all the trimmings on the menu. Tickets will sell out fast, so call Linda at (360) 295-0875 ASAP. The Oriental theme will continue at Tuesday's Nutrition Lunch (the 26th) with a Sweet & Sour Pork dinner. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597 by 6 p.m. on Monday to make or break reservations.
Speaking of tickets: they are now available for the Sweet Swing! variety show coming up on Sept. 14. Linda has them at the Café and wherever she sells dinner tickets or call Barb at (360) 903-0591. This promises to be a marvelous show celebrating the 40's swing era and the patriotic roles of women during the war years. Oh, tickets are $8 now or $10 at the door.
Have a great week!
