There has still been precious little rain as the dry summer weather continues. Please be careful with anything that might kindle a spark and keep debris cleaned up around all your buildings.
Activity leading up to the Aug. 23 and 24 Garage Sale Weekend is obvious all over town. The Map of home sales is growing daily – call me to add your address. Meanwhile, the ladies are working hard at Pioneer Hall for the big Women’s Club sale. Donations of clean, working and saleable items are gladly accepted at this time. Call Sharon at (360) 295-4014 for information or to volunteer your time.
This is the week of the Town Potluck, which will be at 5 p.m. Saturday. But there will be a new location: the Café. The decision to move over there was made because the size is a better fit for the group and the Café is "climate-controlled".
I’m pretty sure this will go down in the records as the "Summer of the Endless Coffee Stops". I’ve counted a stretch when five out of seven weeks had Ryderwood groups hosting Coffee Stops in one direction or the other. That’s a lot of coffee and cookies, plus many hours spent serving them to travelers. The regulars that sign up for shifts deserve extra kudos. It’s all about volunteers in this little village at the end of the road.
September’s big event, the performance by "Wrinkles of Washington" on Sept. 15, won’t require any community participation except to show up for the Show. Just in time for Halloween will be the 9th Annual Fall Arts & Crafts Fair on Oct. 25 and 26. Applications should be available very soon.
Don’t forget that Tuesday’s Nutrition Lunch is available to all. Call Jan at (360) 295-0597 to make reservations.
