Spring is springing around here with the daffodils and jonquils coming into bloom. I know I’ve looked it up before, but I can’t remember the difference. I think that’s what they call a "Ryderwood Moment" around here...
Grass mowing has begun in earnest, which reminds me of a soapbox item: "Scoop the Poop"! Non-dog-owners should not have to walk through "doo" when mowing their own grass. The same goes for the yards of vacant homes – those lawns get mowed, too. It’s all about respect: if your dog is the one pooping, you need to be the one scooping.
By the time you read this, Friday night’s "Luau" Dinner at the Café will likely be sold out. There is a maximum capacity set by "the authorities" but sometimes they can do take-outs. Call Linda at 295-0875 ASAP to inquire about possible reservations.
While we’re on the subject of food, the Easter Dinner scheduled for the 31st in Community Hall will be at 2 p.m. instead of the published 1 p.m. The Social Club will provide meats (ham and roast beef) and beverages – potluck salads, sides and desserts are requested. The sign-up sheet is in the foyer of Community Hall.
The CPR Class at the Ryderwood Fire Hall is scheduled for this Saturday March 23rd from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Call Ellis at 295-3320 to see if there is still room for 1 or 2 more.
The next "Acoustic Saturday Night" will be in the Café on Saturday at 7 p.m. Now that the days are a bit longer, it seems more folks are coming out. The exception seems to be nice days when folks possibly wore themselves out doing yard work.
Congratulations are in order to Ryderwood resident Mike Lutz for being awarded EMT of the Year at Cowlitz Fire District 6 in Castle Rock.
