The end of the shortest month of the year always sneaks up on me, but this marvelous weather has been incredible. Crocuses and daffodils are bursting with flowering shrubs right behind. The first mowing of the season is happening about now. Ryderwood is beautiful in the spring.
On Thursday at 2 p.m., all ladies in the area are invited to a Doll Show being sponsored by Ryderwood's Tea-Hee Red Hats. It will be held in Community Hall and refreshments will be served. It is certain to be a fun afternoon.
Friday night's dinner at the Café will feature Linda's "Un-Sloppy Joe's". As usual, a Beverage, Salad and Dessert are always included for $9. Reservations are required and need to be made by 6 p.m. Wednesday - Call Linda at (360) 295-0875.
Saturday will be the first regularly scheduled "Game Night" sponsored by the Social Club. That's at 6 p.m. at the Café. There will be different games set up at all the tables. Bring potluck finger foods and snacks to share and drop a buck in the jar to play as long as you like.
Speaking of games, Sunday evening has Card Bingo at 6:30 p.m. in Community Hall. This game requires absolutely no skill, yet is always fun and exciting to the end of every hand. It takes 4 nickels, 4 dimes, 4 quarters and a dollar to play the 13 hands. Sometimes you go home with more loose change than you brought. The desire for cake and ice cream has dwindled, so players decided to eliminate that portion of the evening.
Monday has burgers and homemade soup at the Café from 4 to 6 p.m. The burgers - beef, chicken or veggie - are cooked to perfection and served with all the trimmings, including grilled onions if desired. The soups are almost always homemade with fresh ingredients. Come out and enjoy!
I don't have the menu for Tuesday's Senior Nutrition meal, but it's sure to be a bargain at $3 for those over 60 years of age. Since it is the first Tuesday of the month, the students from Castle Rock will be here to serve. Call me at (360) 295-3813 or (360) 355-7315 to make or break reservations. Contact CAP in Longview at (360) 425-3430, ext. 259 for home-delivered frozen Meals On Wheels and Commodities.
It's time to start planning for Ryderwood's Spring Arts & Crafts Fair and Quilt Display coming up the third weekend of May. That will be May 15 and 16. Applications will be available shortly.
Have a great week!
