Everyone reading this is invited to attend the Castle Rock Gala Concert in Ryderwood on Tuesday, Feb. 3. It will take place in the Auditorium, beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be performances by the student Chorus, Concert and Jazz Bands. The Social Club will provide refreshments for the students and guests following the concert. (There is also a Coffee Stop happening that week, so perhaps the cookie makers could make a few extra for this event.)
This week marks the end of January and the beginning of February and the big question is: Will "Punxsutawney Phil" see his shadow on Groundhog Day, Monday, Feb. 2? Groundhog Day seems to have less significance here on the "left coast" than when I lived in the same time zone as that critter. Two possible factors: the odds for shadows at this time of the year are greater in the East, and the excitement of live TV coverage from Pennsylvania is pretty much lost of westerners.
Friday night's dinner at the Café will feature a Swiss Steak entree. Beverage, Salad, Side Dishes and Dessert are always included for $9. Reservations are required and need to be made by 6 p.m. Wednesday - Call Linda at (360) 295-0875. I don't have February's Senior Nutrition menu at this time. Call me at (360) 295-3813 or (360) 355-7315 for info or reservations.
Sunday evening has an Ice Cream Social and Card Bingo on the calendar. It's a fun evening with homemade desserts to accompany the ice cream. Card Bingo is a game that requires absolutely no skill, and neighbors trade their loose change with one another. Bring $2.60 and you could go home with more, especially when someone wins the "dime pot".
Monday has burgers and homemade soup served at the Café from 4 to 6 p.m. The burgers - beef, chicken or veggie - are cooked to perfection and served with all the trimmings, including grilled onions if desired. The soups are almost always homemade with fresh ingredients. Come out and enjoy!
Until next week...
