SOUTH BEND –South Bend city clerk-treasurer Dee Roberts earned the designation of Master Municipal Clerk (MMC), which is awarded by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc.
Roberts is the first clerk in the history of South Bend to receive the honor of MMC.
“It’s probably one of the highlights of my career,” Roberts told the Herald. “It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of time and effort. I could not have done it without the support of the city, the council and mayor.”
Roberts took was appointed deputy clerk treasurer in 1999 and became clerk-treasurer in 2006.
The IMC grants the MMC designation only to those municipal clerks that complete demanding education requirements, and that have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state.
The International Institute of Municipal Clerks, founded in 1947, has 10,300 members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, and the mission of this global non-profit corporation is to enhance the education opportunities and professional development of its diverse membership.
