“When we got there, a semi-truck with a loaded trailer was fully involved (with flames),” Raymond Fire Chief Todd Strozyk told the Herald. “The driver got out safely. He was driving down the road from Roseburg (Oregon) and heard a bang. He said that he thought he had lost air pressure. It was some sort of mechanical failure.”
Chief Strozyk said that the damage to the truck was totaled and that the trailer was undamaged.
“The damage was estimated at $25,000, and it was a total loss,” Strozyk said. “We had two engines and two support vehicles respond with seven fire fighters on the scene. We were done at 11:20 (a.m.) and there were no injuries.”
Chief Strozyk added that Highway 101 was shut down for about 15 minutes.
