On Friday, January 27, from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m., Project Homeless Connect (PHC) will be hosting their program at the Aberdeen Eagles Club. Volunteers are requested to help the needy of our community. Please contact Lori Valentine at 360-533-5100 to sign up, or email loriV@coastalcap.org.
Project Homeless Connect (PHC) is a national initiative launched by the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and is now implemented in well over 700 communities across the United States, as well as Canada and Australia.
PHC is a one-day, one-stop event focusing on mobilizing community volunteers and local service providers. The vital needs to be met include but are not limited to:
- providing warmth and weather protection such as hats, scarves, and coats
- medical and dental screenings
- meals and shelter
- employment assistance
- various other services based on volunteers
The Point-in-Time (PIT) count will be conducted during this event. The PIT is a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless in the area on a single night in January. Each count is planned, coordinated, and carried out by each individual community, and is dedicated to serving people who are homeless.
The ultimate goal of these events and services is to end homelessness and help those in need. If you have the time, please get involved and assist to help the less fortunate of our area get back on their feet.
